Different People

We humans are far too headstrong, far too stubborn, far too arrogant and far too self-centered to ever really work together and move towards each other. We don’t trust each other and we are more than critical of each other. We don’t like each other and we argue with each other, we often get into opposition with each other very quickly and find each other unspeakably stupid. We set ourselves apart from each other very strictly and we do this largely because of our biting intelligence. Our individualism and intelligence often make it impossible to be humble and grateful to each other; our many nuanced needs and attitudes make us intolerant and suspicious of each other. It is impossible for us to work together as we are today. The tender beginnings that we have today to empathize, to take back our needs, to act selflessly, kindly and humbly are still very small. But they are there and they are beautiful; one day they will blossom and bear fruit.

We do not have the right to worry too much. We don’t have the right to worry about humanity and the planet. We have no right to worry about our galaxy or the universe, because our knowledge is piecemeal. But we do have the obligation to worry about small things and to use them as an opportunity to take action. We now see a dark image through a mirror, but then face to face. Now I recognize in bits and pieces, but then I will recognize as I have been recognized.

We will fail utterly and we will be completely reborn. The crises into which we will fall will completely recreate us. We will be completely different people.
