Restless Monkey

According to Zen, the mind is a restless monkey. This is also true with regard to climate change. As long as we ask rational questions about rational solutions to the crisis, we will find rational answers within what we are used to thinking. In our think tanks, we like to refer to this as thinking outside the box. That is exactly the point. Because we often think in materialistic categories of reality and usability, we think in terms of continuous progress and economic growth logic. In a monkey-like way, we only ever think about what we can see and touch and about ourselves. All our Western institutions have developed within and from these logics, including the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research. And leaving this critical/rational level, this mechanical view of the world, and questioning it in a contemplative way is not stupid when it comes to confronting such breathtaking and overly complex phenomena or hyperobjects such as the climate crisis. ॐ
